Municipal Projects
We work closely with district councils all over New Zealand across a range of wastewater solutions.
Holiday (peak usage) surveys at Matarangi Beach.
Summer holiday water survey in Pauanui, Whangamata and Whitianga.
Thames WWTP load contribution survey.
Waipa District Council, flow monitoring of sewers in Cambridge.
Waipa DC Pump station flow calibration.
Rodney DC, water quality survey of the Old Cement Works Lake.
Supply & installation of stormwater flow monitoring weirs for Landcare.
Matamata-Piako DC water supply sampling Morrinsville.
Hamilton City Council humidity monitoring water treatment plant UV room.
Pukete Digesters.
Nelson Odour mitigation.
Rangitīkei District Council.
We worked with the Rangitīkei Council to determine the feasibility of combining two wastewater treatment plants into one location.
In order to make sure one combined plant would be fit for purpose Rangitīkei Council needed a thorough audit of their existing plants’ capabilities, and how effectively each plant was operating.
Our team undertook characterisation of influent and effluent across both sites to determine whether Rangitikei Council could meet their new operational objectives.
Raglan, Ngāruawāhia, Huntly Wastewater Treatment Plant Operational Audits.
We completed characterisation surveys of the influent and effluent across Raglan, Ngāruawāhia and Huntly’s wastewater treatment plants to future proof the region’s plans for clean water.
We conducted influent surveys to define design parameters for future plant upgrades, ensuring plans were operationally efficient and future proofed.
The surveys were also used to measure sea water ingress and a high level of infiltration during heavy rain events.
Effluent characterisation was used to determine the effectiveness of the plant in its current state, helping to identify the scale of upgrades required for the wastewater treatment plant to reliably operate within consent limits.
CB Civil.
Design and build of underground infrastructure.
We partnered with CB Civil to design, supply and install two Palmer Bowlus flumes into the new sewer infrastructure at Hamilton City Council Peacockes Road development.
The client needed a solution for accurate, reliable measurement of sewer volumes which could also be easily incorporated into the underground assets.
Ease of maintenance is essential for anything underground so we chose the free flowing Palmer Bowlus flumes using contactless Vega radar level measurement.
Whangārei District Council.
We worked with the Whangārei District Council during their consent renewal and budget process.
We conducted sludge surveys of multiple oxidation ponds for asset management and resource consent renewals across numerous months. The survey results were used for budgeting purposes to estimate the disposal costs for desludging ponds.
South Taranaki District Council.
We were asked to review the STDC process for treating tradewaste from local industry. Once the review was completed, it was discovered that an upgrade to the existing anaerobic treatment plant was required.
The team at BPO developed options for the upgrade of the existing plant and replacement of a new process. A new process plant is underway and BPO are providing design expertise to ensure a successful outcome.
